How To Get Here
by Boat
A number of companies offer water taxi services from Almirante (the closest mainland town) to Bocastown. They operate from 5:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily. Each trip takes about 25 minutes and costs $3 or $4 each way.
by Bus
There are buses that run from the border with Costa Rica and various points within Panama to Almirante. Direct buses are available from Panama City and San Jose, and the city of David serves as a hub for Panama's regional bus services.
by Airplane
There are flights to Bocas from San Jose and Panama City twice daily. See Air Panama, Aeroperlas, or Nature Air for more information and flight schedules. N.B. International arrivals may require a transfer from Tocumen International Airport to Albrook Airport (Panama City's domestic and regional airport).
by Foot
Once you're on Isla Colon walking or taking a taxi (~$1) to Mondo is quite easy. See the map below for routes from various entry points.
A Note on Reservations
We do not take them. We do recommend that you drop us a line few days prior to your arrival to Bocas to check our availability. From time to time we get asked why we keep this policy as the more fastidious among us can be vexed by a lack of certainty. Let us explain: Our typical guests are not likely to have travel plans that are set in stone. Once enchanted by Bocas Del Toro, few want to leave. Those that "have to," do so reluctantly, and occasionally while handcuffed to an inflatable orca. We've had some guests spend extra months here and most spend extra days, simply because they are having so much fun. We decided that we'd rather nurture the guests we have than court those we don't. So in order to ensure that we never have to kick someone out, we don't promise that we can take someone else in. But fear not! If you come to Bocas and we are full, we are more than happy to point you to other lodging options and welcome you to the bar for some of that ineffable Mondo flav. Our checkout time is 11a.m. and just prior to that is the best time to sneak into a private room with a friend or hop on board if you are staying elsewhere and want to see what the legend is all about.
